Arrival
Drive up to the Turul monument car park above Tatabánya (Turul parkoló). Local buses from the town centre stop below the hill; the last stretch is on foot.
Approach
From the car park take the stone steps down towards the town. The start is on the rock face directly beneath the monument, signposted, about five minutes away.
The route
Only 100 m long and 40 m high, but graded D/E for a reason: the cable runs through overhanging, pumpy rock where you climb on your arms more than your feet, then crosses a rope bridge below the statue. The lower part can be taken as an E-grade variant. The wall looks straight out over the town.
Exit
You top out beside the monument; the car park is a few minutes' walk.
Good to know
Gloves. If you have never climbed a D-grade route, do Hét vezér first. Wet rock turns the overhangs into a different proposition — leave it for a dry day.
This route is free and unsupervised. Apprenaline does not operate it, does not check it and cannot guarantee its condition. Via ferrata carries a real risk of serious injury or death: you need a UIAA-certified via ferrata set, a harness, a helmet and the experience to use them, and you should check the route builders' site for closures (routes in protected areas close for nesting seasons) and the weather before you go — wet rock and storms end a day out here. Guided, gear and photo options on this page are provided by independent operators under the normal booking terms and waiver.
