Arrival

Csesznek is twenty minutes north of Zirc. Park in the village; the gorge starts almost between the houses.

Approach

Five minutes on foot into the Kőmosó gorge.

The route

Opened in 2013 as one of the first three via ferrata routes in the country. The first five metres are the hardest; then the Ivy Traverse leads onto long, smooth slabs — a traverse you walk on friction — before a short, steep 30–40 m of proper climbing to finish.

Exit

Walk down past the climbing crag and the old Jewish cemetery back into the village.

Good to know

Year-round. The castle is a ten-minute walk for afterwards.

Overview
